HOME> PUBLIC POLICY> YOUTH TRANSITIONS CORPORATE VOICES FOR WORKING FAMILIES' member companies understand that good workplace policies produce bottom-line results and our members have decades of experience in meeting the needs of the changing workforce. Corporate Voices brings that experience to other business leaders, professionals and policymakers. YOUTH TRANSITIONS Workforce Readiness Briefing: On March 28th, 2007, Corporate Voices participated in a Workforce Readiness Report Briefing and Policy Action Discussion co-sponsored by Congressman Miller, Congressman Platts, Congressman McKeon, and Congresswoman McCarthy with House and Senate staff, and senior executive Corporate Voices for Working Families business members. Corporate Voices presented the data from our most recent survey, “Are They Really Ready to Work,” to educate Congress on our findings. We are working on follow-up meetings with staffers who attended in order to begin a discussion on the policy implications for youth development. The goal of the discussions is to define the roles of business and government in the overall positive development and education of young people, as well as to explore a more coordinated approach to developing strategies to give the next generation of workers the skills they need to keep America competitive. Results of the discussions will be incorporated in Corporate Voices follow-up white paper.
