Subcommittee on Workforce Protections Hearing

Corporate Voices’ coalition member KPMG LLP testified on Thursday, June 21, before the House Committee on Education and Labor, Subcommittee on Workforce Protections, as part of the Committee's consideration of H.R. 2392, “The Balancing Act.”  Barbara C. Wankoff, Director of Workplace Solutions for KPMG LLP, highlighted the work/life policies her firm uses to help employees juggle their professional and personal responsibilities. 

EEOC Commission

Corporate Voices testified on May 23rd before the four EEOC Commissioners on employers’ low-wage work/life best practices, particularly in the area of flexibility.  The meeting is video streamed to 54 field offices. 

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission enforces anti-discrimination laws and as part of its mission conducts employer outreach on how to avoid discrimination and shares employer best practices.  They released new guidance as a proactive measure to address an emerging discrimination issue in the 21st century workplace. Unlawful Disparate Treatment of Workers with Caregiving Responsibilities provides examples under which discrimination against a working parent or other caregiver may constitute unlawful disparate treatment under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
